Annual Lecture Series
The annual lecture series consists of subspecialty lectures scheduled six times on a monthly basis. These lectures are didactic and case based depending on the topic. They are given by the core subspecialty teaching attendings and where applicable, the subspecialty fellows. The following topics have been covererd in the past during these core lectures:

General issues related to:

Cardiology, including Pericardial Disease, Valvular Syndromes, Arrythmias, Chest Pain Evaluation and Stress Testing, EKG interpretation and perioperative Cardiovascular evaluation.

Pulmonary, including Chest Imaging, Interstitial Lung Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension/Pulmonary Embolism, PFT analysis and ABG review.

Palliatve Medicine, including Palliative Care in End-stage Lung Disease, Hospice, Holding a Family Meeting.

Nephrology, including electrolyte abnormalities, Principals of Hemo-Diaylsis, Uremia, Screening for CKD, Nephrolithiasis, Glomerular Disease.

Infectious Disease, including Fever and Neutropenia, Infection Control, bacterial and other infections and appropriate treatment, organism focus and medication review.

Endocrinology, including diabetes management, thyroid dysfunction, calcium abnormalities, adrenals.

Hematology / Oncology, including Principles of chemotherapy, radiation oncology, bleeding disorders, and cancers of the various body systems.

Rheumatology, including vasculitic disease, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthrities.

Neurology, including epilepsy, stroke, dementia, and neuromuscular disorders.

Gastroenterology, includng GI imaging and procedures, esophageal disorders, peptic ulcer disease, and autoimmune liver disease.

The subspecialists are also required to provide case reports demonstrating classic presentations of common disease states of their specialty.
